HOW TO FIGHT LIKE RICKY HATTON: A LOOK AT SOME OF THE HITMANS TACTICS

Ricky hatton was the main man from this side of the pond. He brought an army of fans swarming the vegas strip with 30,000 die hard brits spending thousands just to be in the same city as the big fight. He sold 55 thousand tickets in 2 days for his sell out retirement fight in Manchester and he was a cult hero for British boxing. With his down to earth nature and self deprecating wit he garnered the support of the nation as well as becoming a multiple time world champion. I'm a huge fan of the sport before anything else, so I am heavily influenced by some of my pugilistic heros in my coaching style. In this session with Wez I based the work around “The Hitman”, known for his relentless pressure and famed for his body shot. When working with a fighter I will try to find fighters that suit their natural style. This will either be down to their mentality, being a naturally aggressive or counter type fighter, or down to their body type, i.e being tall or short. I will then find inspiration from their approach and try and help emulate it through my own student and hopefully be able to replicate some their success.
