What happens when high-level boxing meets dangerous elbows in Muay Thai? In this Pro Film Study, we break down Kirill Khomutov vs Award Kazimba at Rajadamnern World Series (RWS), examining the tactical battle between effective boxing and explosive elbows.
Kirill demonstrates how effective boxing can be in Muay Thai, using sharp punching combinations, head movement and footwork to create opportunities and some tekkers that aren't commonly seen in traditional muay thai. Award presents a very different problem with his elbows, particularly when the distance closes and the fighters become committed to an exchange. He shows how punching combination can be a dangerous mission against someone who is willing to step in behind a sok.
I was a great fight and served as a fascinating example of how boxing fundamentals can be adapted to Muay Thai.
