This is the 50th anniversary of UChicago's Aims of Education Address, which began in 1961 to encourage students to reflect on the purpose and definition of education as they embark upon their collegiate years. Every year, a UChicago faculty member is invited to address students in the College regarding their view on the aims of a liberal education. The Aims of Education Address is a celebrated tradition in which a faculty member addresses the entering class on the unique aims of liberal education at the University.
