The match took place during Superbowl XXXIII's halftime, meaning fans could switch over to the USA Network during halftime to see the pre-taped match. The Empty Arena match between Rock and Mankind was a no disqualification, falls count anywhere encounter where the WWF Championship was on the line, and fans who tuned into the Halftime Heat in 1999 witnessed a title change. The rivalry between The Rock and Mankind was reaching it's boiling point when Halftime Heat took place. The empty arena match aired only a week after their infamous "I Quit" match at the 1999 Royal Rumble, and the two men had also won and lost the WWF Championship belt in matches against eachother. Halftime Heat wouldn't be the last bout between Mick Foley and The Rock, but it was definitely a very memorable wrestling match. This video looks at the Mankind vs Rock Rivalry, how Halftime Heat was presented, and the Empty Arena match itself. 00:00 - Superbowl XXXIII & the halftime show 02:47 - The late 1998 feud between Rock & Mankind 06:14 - The Royal Rumble "I Quit" match 08:45 - The Empty Arena Match 16:13 - Mankind & The Rock's rivalry continues #WWF #WWE #Wrestling
