You would like TheDeep(1977). It's on Tubi. Based on a novel by Peter Benchley (JAWS), the plot has drugs, shipwrecks, Haitian gangsters. Just watch it for the vibe. The Caribbean Rhythms...(1/6)

That ending was a complete shock. Beyond the Sea is a slow burn commentary on masculinity, ego, and men’s use of power over women. Aaron Paul is fantastic. The premise was solid, but the story too dragged. This season of Black Mirror is more about human nature than dangerous tech

There are some moments when it looks like this will get better, but never does, even with a good job by Affleck. Not thriller enough, not erotic enough and definitely not credible enough. I still can't believe how clueless and incompetent that police is when everyone is dying or disappearing around that same couple and nothing is done (even with accusations). A guy dies in a pool and they don't see the marks of being drowned by other person? I rest my case.

On the surface, it was difficult to take seriously the premise of "Deep Water." A man and wife are in a preposterous living arrangement with the wife constantly flirting with and overtly carrying on affairs with other men, invariably bringing them to their home for dinner. The film was salvaged due to the satirical slant that kept the pace fast and the action lively. Vic VanAllen became independently wealthy after the invention of a computer chip used to make weapons of mass destruction more effective. At a relatively young age, he is now comfortably retired and living with his beautiful wife Miranda and their daughter Trixie. But Vic is not comfortable at all with the men in Miranda's life. They include Martin McRae (now deceased), Joel Dash (who fortunately for him takes a job in New Mexico), Charles de Lisle (a piano player who drowns in a neighbor's swimming pool), and Tony Cameron (a businessman who talks about taking Miranda with him to Brazil, prior to his brutal murder). The most interesting character in the film was Vic, due to the icy stare and seething demeanor whenever he sees his wife in the embrace of another man. As played by Ben Affleck, Vic is nonchalant and mild-mannered on the surface, yet burning on the inside. The best scene in the film was when little Trixie was questioning her dad about the death of poor Charlie DeLisle. After hearing gossip at school, Trixie asks, "How did you do it?", hoping to get the full details of how her father strangled Charlie in the swimming pool. The father denies that he killed him....and Trixie doesn't believe him! Another great scene was when Vic blundered in on a meeting between Miranda and a private investigator, David Ricigliani. The dialogue was outrageous as Vic calmly "busted" the private eye who was posing as a psychiatrist. The gumshoe was evidently hired through Vic's nosy neighbor Don, who hopes to write a best-selling book about the antics of Vic and Miranda. But Patricia Highsmith beat him to the punch with her novel. The film did justice to Highsmith's complex literary style, primarily her sense of irony and sly humor.
