A very much 7.
You saw this story before and you'll see it again. Nothing unique here. The only reason it's not a 5 is that the visuals and voice acting are great.
Don't come to this show expecting a loyal interpretation of Lara Croft from the games. It's pretty much its own thing, and that's OK. Honestly, I think it could have been any other character but they use Lara Croft for name recognition.
It's pulpy, it's fun, it's binge-able, and it doesn't take itself too seriously. If you're looking for something light and entertaining without much depth, this show will do the trick, but it's not going to blow your mind. The plot is predictable, and it doesn't add much to the legacy of Lara Croft or adventure series in general. However, the action sequences are well done, and the pacing keeps things moving enough to hold your attention. It's a solid choice if you're in the mood for something easy to watch, but you'll forget about it the next day. Overall, watch it on a date night. A 7 feels like a fair score.

In the first 5 minutes, two white Anglo-Saxon foreigners go to a South American country, kill some wildlife, cause damage to an archaeological site, steal an ancient treasure, kill a few locals, and then smuggle the relic out of the country. These characters, portrayed as heroes or adventurers, display a sense of entitlement and privilege, committing crimes without any real consequences. The narrative reinforces harmful stereotypes and colonial attitudes, as they act with impunity and disregard for local cultures and people. I agree it's just a TV show for fun, but isn't it time to change some outdated narratives that glorify exploitation, white saviorism, and cultural appropriation?

Not much to say really. Why can't they make it based on the real Lara Croft and not the nerfed, new one? The could have atleast used Keely Hawes to do the voice? She has none of the mannerisms of Lara and doesn't even look like her. And now the black guy is gay for some reason.
Im as bored as hearing about Laura's parents now as I am of Bruce Wayne's. I don't care about that story that was made up after the OG lara.
The story is quite predictable and we've already seen it a ton of times. Give us something new, as in new, back to the original but with a new adventure.
Backgrounds look nicely drawn though, so props to the artists.

All the trilogy games and now this series, for 13 years now all i got from TR creators are the following:
1. The death of Lara's father being mentioned in every single episode/scene in game or series
2. Lara struggling and always in some cheesy emotional pain of some sort
3.her friendzoned teddy bear aka jonah, always with that big brother worry mentality like shes some kid
4. Did i mention her fathers death ??
5. Lame ass jokes and one liners trying to be cool and non of them land properly
6. Boring stories and nothing worth mentioning.
This is not the lara from the original games, this a weak lara, a lara that needs any reason to be a victim. Lara used to be a cheeky strong character. Now she's nothing short of a weak adventurer stuck in the past and needs jonah to tell her shes beautiful in order to keep going.

Its just mediocre, doesn't give the accurate depiction of Lara from the games, her conviction through her vulnerabilities, nothing. It just gives us the mediocre overflogged modern female character that is a confused feminist that pushes people away when going through things in a sassy way. In the first episode she cuts through stone while making an unrealistic jump from a ledge and what upsets me is the fact that it was a good opportunity to show the video game lara that would have failed that jump, fallen and even injured herself to show the realism but through the pain she pushes forward that was one of the biggest things that made the video game so appealing and again an alligator bite to her tendon ends up not being an inconvenience? Cmon netflix, i cant watch the other episodes after this.

There have been a number of interpretations of Lara Croft. The original Tomb Raider video games from 1996, The Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies from 2001 and 2003, the reboot video game trilogy from 2013-2018, the Alicia Vikander film from 2018, and now this Netflix animated series. If your idea of "Tomb Raider" are the earlier games and movies, this show will likely not be for you. If you enjoyed the latest game trilogy and/or the Alicia Vikander film, you will likely find a lot to like what this series has to offer.
In other words, this show portrays Lara as the softer, emotional and more flawed/vulnerable Lara Croft, i.e. Presenting her as an actual person, as opposed to some sort of pseudo-superhero.
The story itself is typical "Tomb Raider" fare and could easily have been a video game plot, including typical video game set pieces. Lots of meta-physical stuff (magic) so don't expect anything truly grounded in reality here. The VA work is excellent, while the animation is somewhat variable imo (sometimes well done, other times seemingly low budget).

If you're hoping for booty shorts and crop tops, this is not the adaptation for you. If you're interested in emotional depth, adventure, action, and psychological thriller, then this is the best adaptation yet! The animation did not take away from our connection with Lara's emotions (Hayley Attwell's phenomenal performance ensures that.) It's pretty and smooth and there are iconic shots fans will instantly find familiar. I adore Jonah, Zip, and Camille and they enrich the story and provide more complexity with their relationships. I hope we see more of them in season two - i'll be tuning in if the show returns! I'm excited to get my Tomb Raider fix in a way that feels satisfying but doesn't trigger vestibular issues like playing the game does for me. I connect more with this adaptation than the others so I really appreciate it!

Yes, we've come this far; I liked it. There's a saying I usually say: As every good thing comes to an end, we've come to the end of this good thing. There are very nice, enjoyable and very interesting scenes in the 7 episodes. As someone who played the game and watched the other movies, I liked it very much. If you've played the SMITE game, there's a character named Nuwa and she can control the stones like that. Her appearance in the series was similar to this. I couldn't understand why a dinosaur appeared after that; it seemed strange. Also, it was very obvious that Sam was kidnapped and it was clear from the last scene that there would be a second season. NETFLIX does a good job in its production, but I hope there's no homosexuality. Lara Croft is a very old series and I personally can't evaluate the past according to the present. So I hope it continues like this. I liked it and I've already become a fan. I added it to my favorites; let's see what happens in the future. We'll see in time whether NETFLIX can revive a legend. Thank you for your efforts.
